Tent Cards

I usually ask my friends favourite colours before preparing any gift for them...

But this time I picked my favourite colour Blue... and made all blue... why I don't know...

May be because I was sad as I was parting away from my friends... so automatically my hands picked blue strips and made all blue flowers... Blue is associated with sadness as well as peace...

I feel both at the same time as I remember my friends and watch these pics...

Thank you friends for such wonderful memories...

Quilled Rakhi

Today is Rakshya Bandhan...
Although now-a-days it is celebrated as a festival between brothers and sisters...but this days importance lies in the fact that its the full moon day(Poornima) of Shravan Month...

In different parts of India this day is celebrated differently...

At my place this day is considered as the birth day of Lord Balram who is the elder brother of Lord Krishna, and this day is celebrated as his birthday.

From mythological perspective, it is believed that once, Lord Indra was helpless and stood crushed in a battle against the demons.
Indra's wife Indrani and Guru Brihaspati tied a sacred thread on the wrist of Indra, on this auspicious day of Shravan Poornima, after which he attacked the demons with regenerated energy.

I was always confused with the idea of preparing rakhi with paper. Usually everyone wear the rakhi for a long long time unless it wears of automatically and paper can obviously wear off soon...

This time I started preparing rakhi for a different reason and made this one below...

But as I made it I just thought of making another one as below...

It took 20 strips approximately. Used paint for "Om" in the middle.

Although I tied a different rakhi to my brother, I tied this one to my God whom I pray everyday.

The blue one I tied to my little nephew who was so excited...
Today was a day of contenment ...
And finally I thought I should post about today, stealing some time out from the busy chores...

God bless every soul with strength to fight the evil around them as well as inside them on this auspiscious day... :)

Quilled Frame - Shadow Box

A gift for a special friend...

Used two tone double fringed flower with combed leaves, punched flowers, and fringed flowers.

Whomever I gifted quilled cards, I could feel a desire in them to keep those under display...

So I thought of trying this shadow box which I saw made by various quillers...
Didn't come out well at all...
Gonna try to improve next time...

Also prepared a cover made of transparent plastic sheet to protect it from dust... Pics were pathetic...not uploading them

Need to improve on the part where one can insert pics too...

It had butterfly and Best wishes stamp with red and green color...

The swirls are crimped.
Finally I got the looping idea from a video I saw on youtube...
But I put into flower petals instead...
And the beehived leaves...
Also used the border punch gifted by my sister...

Thanks to the quillers who share there ideas through videos and tutorials...
Hope I can share some too may be in future when I have enough resources...

Quilled Frame

A simple Birthday frame for a friend made with Fringed flowers...
This is the first frame I designed with quilled flowers...and I had to design it in a great hurry...
I took almost 2 hours to assemble the flowers, leaves, swirls, pollen's and the rhinestones.
I had made these fringed flowers, and leaves before...

The day I made this frame I realized that its so good to just keep leaves and flowers ready.
Whenever there is an occasion it just takes few hours to assemble them to make a simple, beautiful and extraordinary gift which you cant buy it from any shop...

I had to rush to the restaurant as my friend was throwing a party on the same day...
I went to a small stationary shop nearby.
As I asked the shop boy to warp the frame I realized I need to take a picture and I just clicked this from my phone.
Then I took a photocopy of my friend put it inside and handed it over for wrapping...

I still remember the exiting happiness on my friends face whom I gifted this...

Its good to make people around you happy... Give happiness and you get it back in return in someway
I feel more inspired to spread happiness through simple quilling ideas...

Quilled Round Pink Flowers

A Simple Card with round pink flowers.
Made it long back during my initial days of quilling.
Thought of posting it today.

I was always amazed with the looped leaves which I saw made by many quillers...
As I was browsing through I came to know we need a comb to prepare them...

But I ended up with these round leaves.
My mom says these look like oval watermelon ... :)

Quilled Money Plant

I have been quilling since last 3 years...
Many people insisted me to do something more and grow in this area...
I too want to ...yes I did and still do...
I had to open a proper blog for only quilling...
A precious friend of mine gave me this blog name... I loved it the moment I heard it..

When I think back about my quilling in those last three years.... I have prepared cards, anndd... thats it only cards.

I wanted to make something different this time for this friend of mine...

So I made made this money plant.., I ordered two shades of quilling strips online...
One is Lime Green color and another Dark Green color ...

It took 60 Lime Green strips and 30 strips of Dark Green Strips...

This arrangement is inside a Tea Poy and pics are taken without the glass covering the top...
